Principal's Message

I want to welcome all of our Kenneth Murphy learning community back to school for another exciting year! Throughout the year our building-wide theme will be focused upon Oh The Places You Will Go by Dr. Seuss. This text will provide students with the understanding that while learning may be tough they each possess the potential to succeed and choose the path they would like for their futures. The school will have celebrations during the year that will highlight all of the places that students have gone during their learning journey.

Students within the building are provided homerooms but do travel to other teachers throughout the day based upon assessment data and needs that are demonstrated. Our teachers meet in grade level teams each week to assess the progress of students and to ensure that all students are successful. If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact the teachers or me to provide further information.

During the coming school year we will be offering breakfast for all students as they enter the building. This breakfast is not peanut free. Also, because we are now ensuring that students have the opportunity to eat multiple meals, we will no longer be having snacks for students in second through fifth grade.

A major focus for me during the school year will be to increase communication between the school and families. As a staff we will work to provide a weekly update on what is occurring in classes, our fridge facts. Additionally, I plan to use social media further to ensure that families are kept aware of what is occurring within the school.

Sincerely, Matthew Mayer
